Today we decided to take a trip to the mountains and see if we could catch some of the Fall colors. We weren’t sure Little Miss would find this kind of trip all that thrilling, but she actually got into it. It was funny to hear her parrot back our words like, “Those colors are incredible!” or “That’s gorgeous.” We brought along the DVD player to keep her entertained on the long drive and at one point I asked if she was seeing all the colors and she said sheepishly, “I might have missed a few.” It was both cute and funny. We were definitely on the tail end of catching the colors and I think if we would have been a week or two earlier it would have been even more amazing. We ended up in Breckenridge and still got to see some really beautiful colors. We also got our first taste of snow this season!
| I love it when we get a good family picture! |

It was downright cold in Breck hovering around 36 degrees. Since we didn't anticipate being in Brenckenridge or the weather being as cold as it was, we didn't bring jackets. The sun would come out in short bursts which made it somewhat bearable to be outside, but when the sun went behind the clouds it was cold! In spite of the chilly temperature we stopped at a local park and let Little Miss run around.
| The park had a tether ball which Little Miss had never seen. We played a few games which helped keep us warm! |
After the park we grabbed dinner and when we left the restaurant it was really starting to snow. The locals told us it was the first real snow of this season. I don't know if it was just us, but there seemed to be a general excitement in the air which was cool to be a part of. As we headed back to the car, we were all downright giddy, catching snowflakes on our tongues and dancing in the falling snow!
Pure happiness
On our way out of town we stopped for hot chocolate and coffee and headed home. It was one of those days that started with no plan or direction and turned into a truly terrific day!
